Feelings

After all these years, Rudy has finally expressed his true feelings towards us.

Baby Wonder seems to like us.

Although, I do think we bore her a great deal of the time.

US Open

Boy Wonder had his first live experience with professional golf this week. The US Women's Open is in town. We spent a few hours at the course on the final day of practice. Boy Wonder was an excellent spectator. As the players would come off the green he would say "Good Luck This Week" or "Play Well". The players appreciated his comments and as a thank you several of them gave him golf balls that they had used. In the 3 hours that we were there he ended up with 6 golf balls. He had a great time and can't wait to go back.

The Great Debate

The big question these days is does Baby Wonder look like Boy Wonder when he was a baby?

Comments are now working so you let us know what you think.

Date Night

When you wake up in the morning, you normally have a pretty good idea of the main events that will take place during the day. During the week I know I will wake up, shower, go to work (what happens there is anyone's guess) then come home go spend time with Mama Wonder and the kids.

This past Sunday when I woke up I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen for the day. We were headed to church and then over to Auntie Susan and Dan's house for a BBQ. We would spend the day there and then be home by bed time for the kids. Well that's not exactly what happened.

Sitting in church listening to a wonderful couple who have been married 43 years explain their keys to a successful marriage, communication and taking time for each other, Momma Wonder turned to me and said we are going to the Jack Johnson concert at River's Edge tonight and Auntie Susan and Dan would be watching the kids while we were at the show. What a surprise!! This is something that I would not have planned for us. Kudos to everyone who was in on the surprise, I had no clue.

It was a lot of fun! Good music, fun people wathcing and best of all great company. Thank you so much Mama Wonder, I love you!!! I hope the next date night that I plan can be as much fun.

We have been to the mountain top

Earlier this week Baby Wonder slept from 10pm to 3am. Five hours of sleep made me pretty excited. Then it happened...

On Tuesday night she slept from 11pm to 6am. That's right. She slept through the night. Knowing that it can take babies awhile before they consistently sleep through the night, I was not very optimistic that she would do it again last night. Well, she almost did it again. Last night she slept from 11pm to 1:30am, was awake for 30 minutes then slept until 6am.

The most amazing thing about her sleeping so much at night is that she sleeps most of the day. I am not exaggerating. When you add it up she is awake for about 4-5 hours all day. Wether she is asleep or awake she is so darn cute!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Papa Wonder! You are such an amazing Dad and we feel so blessed to have you in our lives. Thank you for all you do and how much you love us!

We love you more than everything...

Happy Father's Day to all the other Dads! We are so thankful for each of you.

It might be too late

This past week the we went to listen to a concert in the park. I thought it would be a good way to expose Boy Wonder to something other than sports. You know, broaden his horizons. He was really excited to hear the "rock and roll guitar." As you can see from the picture, the concert was not going to be what he expected. We talked about the instruments, and he listened for a song. He even clapped when the song was over. Then asked me that fateful question. "How are we going to play at the park if we didn't bring my baseball, my glove, or bat?" You can take the boy out of sports, but you can't take sports out of the boy.

Scenes from a Wisconsin road trip

This past weekend Baby Wonder went on her first trip to Milwaukee. The trip went well and we only stopped one time on the way down. Had it not been for road construction we would have been there in a mere 6 1/2 hours.

On Saturday we went to watch Joel play baseball. Boy Wonder told him to hit it hard and then he hit a double. Way to go Joel! Boy Wonder had fun watching, but just had to run the bases too.

In the afternoon we watched Erica play basketball. Boy Wonder cheered hard for her and her team. Baby Wonder slept through the whole thing.

Southern Wisconsin has been hit hard by heavy rain and storms. Saturday evening strong storms and a tornado warning set us all to Grandma and Grandpa Z's basement. A big thank you to Grandma Z who brought the brownies she had baked earlier. She's always a hostess. As you can see the kids had a good time.

Saturday night was a surprise birthday party for Grandpa Z. The party was a success and a great way for Baby Wonder to meet so much of her family she hadn't meet yet. Unfortunately, we didn't get many pictures but here is Baby Wonder with Great Grandma H.

On Sunday it was time for the Wonder's to head home. Along the way we saw this...

The picture does not do it justice, but it is a BMW Z3 pulling a BMW trailer. The license plate on the trailer was Z 3.5.
Side Note to the driver-Just because you drive a BMW does not give you the right to be a left lane cruiser and block traffic. Slower cars should be in the right lane. Okay? Next time MOVE OVER! Thanks!

We stopped to see Auntie Laura's new apartment and Grandpa Rick and Grandma Sharon. It was a quick visit with Grandma and Grandpa, but it was good to see them.
The weekend went quickly, but as you can see by this picture of Boy Wonder on the way home-it was busy and we were all tired out.

It might be too big now, but she'll grow into it.

Yep, he's at that age

Boy Wonder is at the age where he will repeat anything he hears. No, he isn't cussing like a sailor (knocking on wood). Baby Wonder was crying and he cuddled next her on the floor and said "Oh, honey buns. Don't cry sweetheart. Baby girl, it'll be alright."

I think he has adjusted to being a big brother and I have a feeling he really likes his little sister.

Here's to Dreamining Big

Congatulations to the Detriot Red Wings on winning the 2008 Stanley Cup. It was a hard fought victory that provided great thrills all the way to the final buzzer. It had the Wonder family hanging on every shot.
Why a post about hockey? Boy Wonder LOVES Hockey. We play drive-way hockey almost every day. He has proclaimed Sidney Crosby aka, Sid the Kid, as his favorite player (sorry Brent Burns) because "he is really good." We have been faithful watchers of the NHL playoffs this season. Boy Wonder will actually sit and watch, something he doesn't do for every sport. He remembered that the score of Game 5 was 2-1 Penguins when he went to bed. He made sure to tell everyone he saw the next morning the Penguins won 2-1 after he found out the end result of the game (actual score 4-3 Penguins in 3OT's). He woke up the morning of game 6 talking about the game, even confirming that dad would be home to watch it with him.
As a tradition, every player on the winning team gets a chance to skate around the ice with the Stanley Cup. This, even though way past his bedtime, was the highlight of the night for Boy Wonder. It also provided a couple of good quotes:
BW: "Why are they stealing the Stanley Cup from each other?"
BW: "Why do they keep kissing it?"
Also as a tradition, every player gets to spend one day in the off season with the cup. Most have BBQ's with friends and family to thank them for the support that they provided in helping said player along the way. Some have taken it to the top of a mountain for a photo shoot, some give young kids a bath in it, others have taken it swimming. After seeing the joy that the cup brought to the Red Wings, Boy Wonder was more than convinced he wants to play hockey so he can win the Stanley Cup. Mama Wonder and I told him if that happens, we will have the biggest party we have ever had. That provided the following:
BW: "I want to win the Stanley Cup so I can show Back Seat Girl."
PW: "Why?"
BW: "Because it is the Stanley Cup and she will think it is cool!"
Also from Boy Wonder, "I want to win the Stanley Cup so I can kiss it."
Boy Wonder, don't ever stop dreaming....

The Week in Review

Here are some highlights from the past week.

Boy Wonder helped plant flowers.

Baby Wonder and Boy Wonder spent some quality time together.

A conversation with Boy Wonder as he and I walked through a parking lot:

BW: Hey, there is an arrow on the ground.
MW: Yep, you are right.
BW: I know. I'm very smart.

Yes, you are very smart indeed.

We celebrated Baby Wonder's Child dedication at church. Thank you everyone who witnessed this special event for the Wonders.

Today Baby Wonder is four weeks old! She woke up this morning so much bigger than when she went to bed last night.

Baby Wonder has been staying awake a little more to check things out.
